Request for volunteers for the management committee

We are a charity comprising three preschools in Muswell Hill run by a management committee of parent volunteers who operate in the same way as charity trustees.

The preschool was originally set up and run by local mothers for local children and it is this ethos that still drives the preschool. We have our roots firmly based in the Muswell Hill and East Finchley communities and now have grown to accomodate around 70 children and employ 13 staff.

Typically, parent committee members serve a one year term in line with their child's attendance at one of our preschools. In order to improve continuity, we would like to augment the committee and improve its diversity with some "non-executive" volunteer members who we would hope would stay with us for three years or so.

We are looking for someone to play an active part in the committee, assisting in agreeing the strategic direction, policy and goal-setting for the preschools. You would be invited to take on occasional specific projects to further the goals of the preschool group which would generally be conducted on a computer or the internet and will take up approximately half a day per month. As a volunteer on our committee you would also be invited to between 3-9 committee meetings a year which are held in the evenings. Being a member of our preschool will be both challenging and stimulating, and we are looking for people who bring their skills and expertise to our group in an enthusiastic and collaborative way.

We are looking for up to 3 committee members, Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, legal, accountancy or fundraising skills would be valuable, but we are interested in any individual wishing to contribute positively to our development over the next year or more. Previous experience of working as part of a group of volunteers would be beneficial.
